About #GivingTuesday
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving.
Our #GivingZOODay Campaign
This year, all donations made to the Naples Zoo during the #GivingZOODay campaign will be used to help complete fundraising on the Naples Zoo’s new veterinary hospital. A $2.1 million dollar project, the new facility will help the Naples Zoo provide exceptional animal and veterinary care for its animals and allow the zoo to assist Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in the short-term rehabilitation of injured Florida panthers and possibly other larger mammals such a black bears. To date, approximately $1.9 million has been raised for the veterinary hospital, and the Naples Zoo hopes to break ground on the facility within the next twelve months. The Naples Zoo is the only AZA accredited zoo in Florida that does not have an on-site veterinary hospital. If Giving Tuesday donations exceed the amount needed to complete construction of the veterinary hospital, additional dollars will be used to purchase veterinary equipment for the hospital.
